This collection of lessons in an introduction to Inquiry Process. This unit has two parts: An introduction study that sets up the research notebook and then a mini unit to center and structure the inquiry process around content area instruction.

Unit of Study to Introduce the Inquiry Process:

The intention of this study is to introduce students to the Inquiry process. This unit will familiarize students with the process of investigating questions that are relevant to them about a variety of topics. After the initial unit, students will have the tools to develop inquiry projects that can be shared and to display the students’ learning. During inquiry, students can work as whole group, small group, pairs or individually.

Mini History Inquiry Investigation

The intention of this study is to take student groups through the Inquiry process together within a structured area of inquiry investigation, such as History. This unit will provide a strategy for groups to keep track of their learning along the way. After this unit, students will have the tools to develop inquiry projects individually or in small groups that can be shared and to display the students’ learning.
