Within my classroom, I use a concept of learning called "centers". Centers are activities that require student to think outside the box while also providing a hands-on opportunity to learn new content and further explore the unit's curriculum. I provide students with 25-35 minutes to work on the day's center (I teach on a block schedule). All centers are due at the end of the unit and are worth a total of 20 points each. You may collect your centers individually if you so desire. I allow students to collaborate with their peers while completing center work, however each student must turn in their own masterpiece. The centers included in this geography unit's "bundle" are entitled Groovy Geographic Sports, Writing Home, Where Did You Start, Becoming A Cartographer, and Let's Get Political. I also included an extra-credit activity with this bundle entitled Up, Up, & Away With Geography. CLICK ON MY PREVIEW TO ASSESS IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE!
