Fractions can be tough to introduce. I have created an interactive unit that introduces fractions related to real world applications. The students will be making an interactive portfolio that has activities and formative and a summative assessment that introduces the concepts of ½, ¼, 1/8, 1/3, and 1/6. The students are in tiered groups. They will be working together to complete pizza order tickets. They will each receive a ticket that has a pizza order. They must select the correctly fractioned pizza, glue the order ticket and pizza into their portfolios, and then, fill out the fraction questions that are on each order ticket. The order tickets increase in difficultly through the unit by added ingredients and different amounts needed. They even cover an introduction into adding fractions as well. They will have an individual project at the end and will have a pizza tour using a rubric to rate their classmate’s work. I have included all materials and assessments needed to complete this, plus a day and day plan. Thank you!
