Product Description
This lesson aligns with the Common Core State Standards:
STANDARD 5 - Matter and Energy
"The teacher understands the nature and properties of energy in its various forms, and the processes by which energy is exchanged and/or transformed.
5A. understands the atomic and nuclear structure of matter and the relationship to chemical and physical properties
5C. understands the cause and effect of chemical reactions in natural and manufactured systems
5E. analyzes the properties of materials in relation to their chemical or physical structures and evaluate uses of the materials based on their properties

PowerPoint lesson I in the "Solutions, Acids and Bases" unit VII - introductory chemistry. This lesson describes dissociation, dispersion and ionization when substances dissolve in water; identifies different physical properties of solutions and solvents; describes energy changes during the formation of a solution and the factors that affect solutes dissolving in a solvent.

A separate student PowerPoint worksheet for this lesson is also available.

PowerPoint lessons contain many graphics and links to short videos to further student understanding. PowerPoint slides also contain notes for the instructor based on students most "frequently asked questions" or FAQ's to help clarify the subject.
A class activity is included at the end of each lesson along with a kahoot.it 20-question interactive quiz (link is in the last slide). The quiz/review is lesson-specific and a fun way to check for student understanding of the material.

*All PowerPoint lessons; review programs; student worksheets/activities and assessments for this unit can be found under the "Introductory Chemistry Complete Unit VII Solutions, Acids and Bases" zip file folder.
