This graphic organizer was my anticipatory set for my Drama Genre unit. I wanted to assess the students' prior knowledge on each genre and see if they could apply that knowledge to the actors/movies/plays that they'd seen. It was neat for the students to realize that they actually were familiar with various forms of drama. Students shared their findings with partners and in small groups, then with the whole group. From there, the students voted to determine which genre we would study first. Allowing them to vote gave them ownership over the unit.
Once this sheet was collected with their original answers, students received a new copy to take notes after each genre was discussed in class, creating a study guide for the assessment.
Part of their final assessment included completing this page. After this page was graded, I returned their original pages so that students could see what they learned about each genre.
