This lesson is an introduction to help students build knowledge of each system so that they can apply the vocabulary and components of each system properly when we start to model the interaction between systems in upcoming lessons.This lesson helps to lead up to the NGSS Performance Expectation of: 5-ESS2-1. Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact.
In this lesson, students will gather and communicate information about the Earth’s four systems and sort objects by the system they belong to. You can choose to sort objects by using either the included card sort or the powerpoint presentation. Students will then observe images and explain which of the systems is present and why.
