This SmartBoard lesson will introduce students to the different types of genres. Genres covered are: mystery, science fiction, fantasy, realistic fiction, historical fiction, traditional literature, informational, biography and autobiography.
First students will read the definition and match the genre to the definition. Next students will read a description of different books and decide what type of genre it is describing. Once students read the description, they will click on the chalkboard to reveal the answer. Then they will click on the graphic on the left to be taken to the next slide. The last slide is a game where students will be shown a book cover and have to choose what type of genre it is.
All the book covers that are shown in this lesson are from the publisher Capstone Press and its subsidiaries. I have permission from the publisher to use these covers in my products.
The file is in a zip format, you must have an unzip program to open it. If you need help with this please let me know.
