Bring history to life by letting your students become detectives!
I used this scenario to introduce the study of history to my students. Rather than simply dive in to key terms, they worked in small groups to unravel the mystery of the locked box. I also put images of the box and its items on the SmartBoard to make it a little more realistic. The students began analyzing the situation like an historian, attempting to weave together a plausible account of the situation based solely on the evidence (artifacts and written records).
You can elaborate on the items or change the items altogether. My students loved it and asked to do something else like it again!
