This is an introduction to human anatomy directional terminology adapted and modified from the National Cancer Institute using words such as "superior", "inferior", "anterior", etc. along with their definitions. In addition, body planes and cavities are also introduced. I give students a copy and then bring the document up on the Promethean Board projector. Then I bring a student up to the front of the classroom and do a demonstration of all terms, planes and cavities on the student along with the worksheet. They love this! This is a two-page document with an associated crossword puzzle as an assignment - students will find all the answers to the crossword in the document. There is an answer key for the x-word as well. There are also three internet activities attached to this unit of study which include drag and drop and matching activities. The web address is embedded in the document :).
I then reinforce this introduction with a Promethean Board activity (also available as a free download - 2 pages).
