This assignment serves as an introduction to imperialism in China and can be used for U.S. History or World History purposes!
Students are provided with two written narratives as well as a political cartoon. They are tasked with analyzing each by answering the questions that follow.
All documents represent an indigenous (Chinese) perspective - a stance that is not often highlighted in classic textbooks.
Through the analysis, students will gain insight into the perspective of the Chinese as well as the key players in the imperialism that occurred.
