Introduce your students to school databases with this presentation and follow-up activity! Students will consider the differences of locating resources on the web vs. subscription databases. They will learn the steps involved in strategic online searching and then explore available databases on their own.
This resource can be used for both an introduction to new databases or as a review of existing databases. It's an excellent precursor to student research projects.

Using one sheet per database, students record URL of database, login information, search terms they used for sample questions, features they found while searching, and utilities that were available on the database. This activity could be spread out over multiple sessions depending on age of students and number of databases to explore.
