This is a powerpoint slide intended for grades 6-8. It is the introduction of matter, which includes finding volume of liquids and irregular shaped objects. The slides will also discuss how to find mass of an object and how to change that to weight. Here is the summary of the slides:
Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.
Volume-Is the amount of space occupied by an object.
The meniscus is the curve at a liquid’s surface.
Displacement of water is when a quantity of water is displaced by an object.
Mass is the amount of matter in an object.
Weight is a measure of the gravitational force exerted on an object times the object’s mass.
Inertia-An object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest unless an outside force acts upon it.
Mass is a measure of inertia-the greater the mass the greater the inertia. Conversely, the smaller amount of mass the less inertia an object has exerted upon it.
