PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This activity introduces students to micrometers and measuring the size of cells under the microscope... without using a microscope! Paper circles are used to model the microscope's field of view and paper clips are used to model cells. Students must use materials to figure out how to measure the size of each "cell" (paper clips) without using a ruler.

Comes with a teacher implementation guide, student handouts, activity assessment, and an enrichment activity based around a Learn Genetics simulation (http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/cells/scale/). I have actually used the enrichment website activity with biology students at an alternative high school and they did very well with it.

Full answer key to all student handouts is included.
