The way the periodic table is arranged creates a really cool code that tells us about each element. Students will be introduced to the arrangement of the periodic table and its families, groups and periods as they watch. Students fill out this worksheet as you show them two online videos. As they watch students label an element square, number groups and periods, color periodic families and learn the basics how the periodic table is arranged. Finish this lesson watching a video on the strangest elements. This interesting video allows students to learn the properties of different elements on the periodic table.
23 minutes of video total with an extra link to a video on the history of the periodic table (4 minutes) and to a periodic table of videos on each element that you can show students real elements and what they do. These are great time fillers and students love them!
