Students learn how to design for printmaking (multiple ink copies) and then how to create simple "plates" and hand print "editions" of prints from that plate.
Primary concepts include image reversal, multiple copies (edition), types of printmaking (relief, intaglio, and transfer), tools (brayer, burin, plate and press), and processes (engraving, etching, carving, silkscreen, drawing [lithograph]).
