This unit addresses the following learning outcomes:
* Students will be able to identify a just right book and a challenging book.
* Students will be able to read a text and write a response that includes the following: hook (optional), restates the questions, gist, details, and conclusion.
This unit lays the foundation for a reader's workshop in the late elementary and early middle school classroom. Students identify what reading is, what readers do and who they are as a reader. During this unit your will establish your classroom routines and expectations for your specific reader's workshop.
This unit provides a framework of lessons to support the development a classroom culture of reader's. It provides a lot of opportunity for differentiation and modifications based on your specific teaching style and your students' needs.
