PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This presentation contains information about Shakespeare, the Globe Theatre, and Shakespearean language. The presentation is designed to give students background information on Shakespeare, the Elizabethan Period, and the language of the times. Students will engage in an activity where they get into pairs and write notes (their favorite thing to do in class!). Students will then use the lists of troublesome words and odd words (link included below) to change words in their notes. When they are done, they may perform their Shakespearean conversation for the class. As homework, students are instructed to create a journal entry that uses some of the words on the list.

For a full lesson plan on Shakespearean language and to download PDF versions of the "troublesome words" and "odd words" lists, visit: http://www.pbs.org/shakespeare/educators/performance/lessonplan.html
