Introduction to Shakespeare PowerPoint is part of a unit series I have created to support teaching Shakespeare and studying the story of Romeo and Juliet or any work written by Shakespeare.
This PowerPoint has been designed to support an introduction to Shakespeare and includes a warm up activity similar to a Charades game. It prepares students for studying the Year 10 English C2C Unit for the Queensland Curriculum in a quiz style format which encourages engagement and competition within the class.
The PowerPoint contains a cloze worksheet that students complete as you progress through the lesson. The PowerPoint encourages students to predict the answers as text is revealed in animation. As a finishing activity it includes a craft session where students can make a model of a Tudor style house.
This PowerPoint prepares students for following the guidelines of the Queensland, Australian Curriculum for year 10 English but it is also designed to support students with disabilities and special needs including hearing impairments, auditory processing disorders and intellectual disabilities. The visual images in the PowerPoint are designed to assist with understanding of concepts. The worksheets are designed to provide students with multiple opportunities to reinforce their knowledge. Even though the PowerPoint is designed to support the year 10 English unit it could also be used for teaching English to any year level from year 6, year 7, year 8, year 9 through to year 10 or for students studying by distance education or home schooling.
