PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A great chart to introduce 1st-2nd graders to suffixes and their purpose. How do the suffixes '-er' and '-est' change the meaning of the root word? Simple examples include big, bigger, biggest and sweet, sweeter, sweetest.

I recommend making this into a matching work by cutting up the pieces, gluing them onto card stock, and laminating them for durability. Students can complete this activity solo or in pairs. Then they can select several sets of words to write sentences with and discover how these suffixes change the meaning of the root word.
