This lesson is meant to be used as guided notes for an entire class. Students begin by learning what a system of equations is and what it means for an ordered pair to be a "solution". Instead of diving right into graphing, students are given ordered pairs and learn how to tell whether or not they are solutions (plugging in and checking to see if they satisfy both equations). Finally, through a simple word problem, they learn how to solve very basic systems without any technical strategy.
* This lesson leads into Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing. Feel free to check it out in my store!
The assessment is based off of the guided notes.
Answer key is included!
