This is a resource I created to help apply the concepts of rests before using them in music notation. It is also a great pre-introduction for young kids to time signatures long before they actually see and learn about time signatures. This bundle includes both 4/4 and 3/4 time signature exercises.
In this exercise, the students count to 4 (or 3) over and over again, but only clap on the numbers that are bold/colored. Instead of clapping, classroom instruments can be added. It is a great way to incorporate student centered learning in early elementary classrooms, because small groups of students can work on these flashcards independently once the concept is introduced. The possibilities are endless!
