A real-world approach to understanding the typographic capabilities of Adobe InDesign, or other software applications used to produce media materials. The booklet will take the user, step-by-step, in making typographic manipulations such as indents, creating rules, changing color, kerning/tracking, vertical/horizontal scaling, paragraph alignment/justification, baseline shift, false italic, and a complete glossary of terms. It is an excellent training tutorial before starting any media project. The user will create a two-page document demonstrating typographic ability. This activity develops functional reading, comprehension, and application. If an appropriate software is not available, it is suggested to download a trial copy of Adobe InDesign.
