EVERYTHING YOU NEED! No-prep lesson introducing students to the Periodic Table! 25-slide PPT, practice worksheet, exit ticket, check for understanding questions, and visuals! I am confident you will find this file a valuable resource for both you and your students!
I start of projecting a picture of a grocery store and having students come up with all of the different sections they can think of. I then have them explain why it wouldn't make sense for everything to be jumbled together. This is to introduce theM to what chemistry was like before a system to organize known information was put in place.
Students learn the function of the Periodic Table and then begin to outline and label the metals, nonmetals, and metalloids on their blank periodic table sheet (included). Students then learn about groups, periods, and atomic numbers. Check for understanding questions are included. Ex: "What element is in period 2, group 4?". Students will need a physical copy of the periodic table in front of them for these questions so I included one in this file!
Once students have demonstrated mastery, they begin a "periodic table scavenger hunt". Students receive the included worksheet with questions relating to the atomic numbers, groups, and periods of different elements and their chemical symbols. At the end of the sheet, they will string together their answers and if correct it will spell out "One Hundred". An answer key is included.
A 5-question exit ticket with answer key is also included in this product! Enjoy :)
