This goes along with another one of my products listed here:
Please note, because it goes along with the above listed product much of the content is repeated, however, there are examples of the same topic + point rephrased.
This PowerPoint focuses on Introductions and Conclusions. It shows how they connect, and emphasizes that it is important to maintain the strength of your essay from the beginning until the very end. It discusses thesis statements (claims, controlling statements, main idea of the whole, topic + point sentences), hooks, bridges, rephrasing, as well as clinchers.
It provides an example of how to write an introduction as well as a conclusion. My handouts listed here (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Introductions-and-Conclusions-FSA-Writing-Practice-2281422) provide additional ideas, and provides an opportunity for the students to create their own introductions and conclusions.
I have left this product editable, in case there was something you needed to change to fit your needs.
LAFS.W.1.1.a: Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which ideas are logically grouped to support the writer's purpose.
LAFS.5.W.1.1d: Provide a concluding statement or section related to the opinion presented.
This is one of many resources that I have created for my students to excel on FSA Reading & Writing goals. Please check out my store for additional activities.
