Introductory Geometry Proofs Task Cards

In this set of task cards, students will write beginning geometry proofs.

Proof Justifications Used:
Algebraic Properties of Equality - Definition of Complementary Angles - Definition of Congruence - Definition of Supplementary Angles - Segment Addition Postulate - Definition of Perpendicular Lines - Angle Addition Postulate - Definition of Right Angle - Definition of Angle Bisector - Definition of Midpoint

Three versions of the task cards are given: fill in the blank (students only need to justify), fill in the blank (students must write the whole proof), and completely blank. A student answer sheet and answer key are included. The problems are of various difficulty. Make sure these problems are appropriate for your students - download the preview and look at the thumbnails to see problem examples. All of the proofs in the set are shown in the preview. This set includes 14 task cards and the solutions. Ideas for use are included.

Task cards are a great way to help students review or to use as warm-ups throughout the unit.

There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom.
1. Marker Board Review – Put task cards under a projector and have students work the problem on their marker board.
2. Scoot Game - I put desks in a circle and have each student work on a card. Then after a certain amount of time, I say "rotate" or ring a bell. Then the students move to the next desk. When they have made it all around the circle we check answers as a class.
3. Stations Review - Hang cards around the classroom. Students can work with partners or small groups to move around the classroom answering questions.
...and more ideas are included!
