Product Description
Students are naturally intrigued by the concept of invasive species. The purpose of this inquiry-oriented lesson (in which the information that learners work with comes from the web) is for students to learn about invasive plants, animals, and other organisms around the world and in their own ecosystem. Students are led through components of a webquest: introduction, task, process, final task, and conclusion. Resources include videos and readings. Students can use QR Codes or embedded links to easily access the sites. Students can work at their own pace. Webquests are a great way to introduce, teach, or review a topic.

Included with this webquest is an evaluation rubric and comprehensive answer key.

Next Generation Science Standards are covered, including many aspects of the evidence statements.

MS-LS2-5 Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics Students who demonstrate understanding can: MS-LS2-5. Evaluate competing design solutions for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services.* [Clarification Statement: Examples of ecosystem services could include water purification, nutrient recycling, and prevention of soil erosion. Examples of design solution constraints could include scientific, economic, and social considerations.]

Encourage students to watch the video in its entirety once, then re-watch it, answering the questions.

I find that correcting the webquest as a class is the best way to be sure students understand the material.
