This activity is a great supplemental activity to any insect, bug, or animal unit. It’s also great to leave for a sub or any time you want to have something hands-on and engaging for your students!
Materials you need:
-Misc. recyclable materials your students can cut, glue, and put together (boxes, paper towel rolls, containers, paper, pipe cleaners, plates, etc)
Tell your students to use the materials provided to create an insect. It can look however they want- even have special things normal insects don’t have! Or, maybe they want to make a normal bug, like a spider, but add on special things, like wings, arms, or feet.
After, pass out the journals (you can include any of the pages you wish) and have students complete the information about their bug.
Use the rubric to score their projects and journals. Have fun!
