Welcome to my Inventors and Inventions Publisher Project. You will need Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 or 2010 and access to the internet to complete this project.
This is one of my favorite projects to teach because the students learn valuable computers skills and get to be very creative in the same curriculum. I was astounded with the wide array of inventions my students came up with during this project. As with all my curriculum, I never sell anything that I have not taught myself.
Using a great invention website, students will create a 4 page booklet detailing the invention of two different commonly used product. On page 4, they will "invent" their own product detailing it's use and how it will make their lives easier.
Some of the desktop publishing skills they will learn include: Word Art, creating and manipulating text boxes, changing the font, size and color of text, Clip Art, saving and inserting pictures from the internet and text wrapping. This unit includes lesson plans, a finished sample of the booklet and research sheets for the inventions they pick and for their own invention. My lessons plans are very simple, step by step instructions for each skill. Computer experience is not required to teach my projects. This project is designed to take one 9-week quarter to complete having computer class once a week.
