"Inventors of the Past Speak" is an original play with a humorous look at several of the lesser known experiments of some of the most well known inventors: Robert Fulton, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, and the Wright Brothers. This play has been student and audience tested. It was enjoyed by both. The basic premise of the play is that the students have been assigned reports to write about famous inventors. Troy, a budding inventor himself, has created a time machine so that he can return to the past to actually see and hear the inventors in real time. The play is 9 pages in length and includes two acts with a total of 7 scenes. Third and fourth grade students created all of the props and sets. There are 29 speaking parts. This play, therefore, could be performed with more than one class participating, or students could play more than one of the smaller parts. Enjoy!
