I use this organizer with my special education students for small group. I use the organizer with visual scaffolds for initial instruction to help them understand the concept of inverse operations. I then use the organizer without the scaffolds for small group instruction the second/third day. I then have my lower students complete the sheet with scaffolds at their seat as independent follow up/assessment, and have my higher students complete the back of the sheet without scaffolds as a follow-up.
I have used this with my 3rd/4th grade students and they have finally understood the concept of division and multiplication and inverse operations. This organizer allows them to solve problems independently at their seats and for homework to provide the repetition, practice, and application all struggling students need with new and difficult concepts.
