Match the inverses! Please note that this is a matching activity and not a card sort. Every table will not match with an equation, a graph, and sets of ordered pairs. Each table is not necessarily matched with the table of its inverse, and each graph is not matched with its inverse graph.
Students can work independently or with a partner to match the inverses. The best part about this activity is there is no prep for you as a teacher! The printable version is not the solution, so the students can cut the pieces out themselves and match.
I usually print on colored card stock, but you could also laminate if you’d like to reuse from class to class. This could also be used for students to find their seats with a new partner for the day.
There are linear/linear inverses, quadratic/square root inverses, cubic/cube root inverses, and rational/rational inverses. Students do not necessarily need to be able to solve algebraically to find inverses, but can use the conceptual idea of an inverse to find the match (reflection over the line y=x, switching x and y values, etc)
