I teach high school Zoology. As part of our invertebrate unit students will identify invertebrate specimens preserved in jars. My students tend to have trouble distinguishing between the “worms” and “worm-like” creatures. I use this foldable to give students a chance to work with their groups and write down what visual cues & characteristics they can use to tell the difference between these animals. I use slides #2-7 to give instructions to the students. Slides #8-17 are more Teaching Notes to share teacher observations for each animal. Also included are scanned images of sketches and teacher's foldable.
The foldable created ends up with 9 boxes, and folds into thirds for easy attachment of a blank side to the interactive notebook. Students also use post-it notes to create illustrated flaps to cover each box. This also makes a great tool for quizzing.
