"Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready to go. Pick up the pace. You're going to slow. Where, oh where, oh where can he be? The sun has come out. Oh, now I can see! Wait, come back here. Why the hurry? Please don't leave me. You'll make me worry..."
Join the Shadowchaser in investigating shadows.
The picture book was inspired by my son. When we were taking a walk with our dog, he came up with the theory that our dog pulled on the leash so much because he was trying to keep up with his shadow! Shadowchaser was born when I took along a camera on future walks in order to capture shadow and light throughout the day and come up with something that would help students observe and investigate shadows along with the cute presentation of a dog walk.
The preview does not include all of the pictures. The pictures cover shadows throughout the day, from morning through night time. The Shadowchaser is in pursuit of the shadow throughout the book, hoping to keep it as his friend and to play with it. He only takes a break to eat his meals and go to bed. The next morning he's looking for the shadow again but wakes up to a rainy day. The book ends on this rainy day, and can invite students to wonder where the shadow went. This opens up curiosity, and can serve as a great anticipatory set into the investigation of shadows.
