This Assessment Rubric provides students with a guide for both setting their achievement goals and evaluating their completed projects. Pair this assessment rubric with the U.S. History subject area Task Cards available in my store, or use a resource for learning activities and projects you design. Teachers will find the Assessment Rubric helpful in grading student work and communicating to students and parents specific skills that need improvement.
Distribute copies of the Assessment Rubric as you begin PBL work. Review with the students the criteria and how you will use the rubric to grade their work. Suggest to students that they refer to the Assessment Rubric as they work on projects. This will encourage students to work to their best ability. Following the completion of projects invite students to use the comments section to reflect on their efforts and achievements. Teacher comments can include the final grade, notations on successes, and suggestions for improvement. Space has been provided for you to add additional criteria to tailor this rubric to your curriculum. You might also engage students in creating their own standards to include in this space.
