PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Using a photocopied page from a novel or independent book, students will color code and annotate the text for figurative language and other stylistic elements.
The examples included come from the book Green Angel by Alice Hoffman.(This text is SUPERB for working with in-text figurative language) I introduced this lesson by modeling my thinking using a page of text on the overhead/smartboard. Students then worked together on a different page of the same text before taking their knowledge to their own book to work independently.
Proved to be a great conversation piece among students one the assignment was completed before it was handed. Also allowed for great teacher-student conferences during Reading workshop.
