In this activity, students investigate six different cards each featuring a 3D shape. On the reproducible answer sheet, the number of faces, edges and vertices for each shape is recorded. After the answer for each shape is recorded, the student scans the QR code on the card to check if the answer is correct.
(Shapes included: cube, cone, rectangular prism, cylinder, sphere, square pyramid)
When using QR codes in the classroom, I post the task cards on the walls in various areas. Before beginning the activity, each student takes an answer sheet and a clipboard. A small group of students work at the same time but each student starts on a different card. This works out well when using it as a math station/center during math rotations.
