Product Description
Place students into teams. Give each team a tray of common household utensils to imitate beaks like wooden spoons, chopsticks, tongs and tweezers. Also include in the tray various objects to imitate birds food such as counters, cotton balls, marbles, eye droppers and two cups one with water to imitate nectar. Let students conduct their investigation by using the utensils to try and pick up the various objects in their tray. They can use the eye dropper to collect water and deposit it in the other cup for nectar.
After about 20 minutes investigating ask students to match each beak on the worksheet to a common household tool. To further challenge the students instruct them to use google images to find a bird that has the same beak as on the worksheet.
Gather students together to share their findings.
