Invite Someone Famous to your Hometown (Accompanying Power Point)
This is a bundle of two activities which accompanies my popular letter writing activity with the same name. The main activity has been downloaded about 2000 times and carries a 4.0 rating.
a) A power point presentation that I used to help present the main letter writing activity. It seems to make the different steps in the activity clearer to my students.
b) A Peer Editing Worksheet where stundents in groups edit and assess
If you haven't downloaded the activity here is the description:
This is a fun writing activity where students write a letter of invitation, inviting a famous person to their hometown. I have done this with high school, junior high and even intermediate level ESL/ELL students.
Students must not only think about who they will invite, but why. They have to come up with a legitimate reason that would help their school or community. Just for fun and excitement, I let them invite anyone in history rather they are alive or not. I have gotten some crazy and imaginative ideas.
This one always is interesting and often surprises. It also helps an old guy like me keep track of who is popular with my kids. This 9 page activity packet includes:
1) The complete and easy to follow lesson plan and worksheet
2) The,"Invite Someone Famous to your Hometown Graphic Organizer."
3) For ESL/ELL teachers I have also included two ELL activities for teaching giving directions. The language points alone will be useful in teaching the first activity.
