Chemistry has often been called “algebra in a foreign language”. One of the most confusing areas for students is ionic compound names and formulas. The goal of this activity is to give the students a visual representation of the ions as they bond, and allow them to see WHY they bond the way they do in a tactile and interactive manner.
This is part of a series of lessons on Ionic Bonding and Naming from No More Boring Science.
