Product Description
Students read a brief background on the Irish Potato Famine and an account from 1848. They answer 11 questions and analyze 3 images and 1 map (prompts provided). The answers are provided where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Why were the Irish affected by the potato blight so much worse than other Europeans?
--What was the horrible spectacle Mahoney faced?
--Describe your reaction to what Mahoney saw in Skibbereen. Compare and contrast your reaction to the reaction you think he had.
--Explain the meaning of the phrase, "was passing into the same bourne."
--Imagine your family is planning on leaving Ireland but your best friend’s family is staying. Is there a way they could convince your family to stay in Ireland, how or why not? How might you have tried convincing your best friend’s family to come to America with you?
