I created this product to use with my middle school students. My students use these in their interactive notebooks. I find interactive notebooks help students with staying engaged in lessons. I also love that the students’ notes and examples are in one place. That makes for easy review when it is time to get ready for a test. The students also have examples to work with as we use the academic vocabulary with other lessons throughout the year. I print these interactive notebook pages scale to fit paper. On some printers, I have to adjust the percentages. You might have to run a test page to make sure it fits the way you want it to.
I run some of the pages off using card stock (bright colors). I use card stock for the pages that will get more use or for vocabulary words that I want to stand out.
This set includes words with definitions and examples. The students also have a page to write their own examples, and another page to draw them. The students will also get practice working with the vocabulary through a word/example sort activity. Another page gives students a chance to find and analyze an example of irony in a teacher selected text from the teacher’s resources as well as two other pages to give students to guide students through writing a paragraph about the use of irony in teacher selected poems or stories. I made these generic pages so that I could use it with different stories I teach. The paragraph templates scaffold the writing process for those students who need support in writing literary paragraphs.
This product is 13 pages, including the cover and a copyright page.
