I made these cards for students working on irregular past tense verbs to elicit the verbs within a natural sentence context. I wanted students to do more than memorize words according to the prompts of what happened today and yesterday.
The cards are self checking. Side one gives the present tense verb and a question asking students to make a prediction leading to the use of the irregular past tense verb in a sentence on side two. The answer is included in highlighted text on the flip side. The set of cards are the same as my other set that provided answers with QR bar codes. This set does not need an electronic device to get the answers.
The cards can also be used for making predictions when given a context and for interpreting and answering questions that use the words before, after, during, and while.
The set contains 10 pages of cards for a total of 30 two sided cards, 2 ½ inches by 3 inches when folded. They are best printed on cardstock. Cards are set up so that the horizontal lines are cut to divide cards. The vertical lines are folded. The right sided card is folded under the left side, providing the answer to the prompt on the top card. You may want to glue or laminate them together to make a sturdier card.
