Strikes for Syntax
Strikes for Syntax is a game that works on generalizing the use of irregular plurals and irregular past tense verbs. I made this game to help with carryover of skills learned in structured tasks. My students were often able to determine a past tense verb when given the present tense and provide an irregular plural when shown a picture card but often have a hard time using these skills outside of this structured task.
This game contains short stories that have references to irregular plurals and irregular past tense verbs. The students are then required to answer ‘wh’ questions about the story. Most of the answers require them to refer the nouns or verbs with the targets.
I also use this game for kids who have goals that require them to answer ‘how’ and ‘wh’ questions about a passage.
A bowling score sheet for the game is included that can be laminated and used over and over again!
Included in this 12 page game:
32 cards targeting irregular plurals/irregular past tense verbs
Bonus Gutter Ball Cards
1 Bowling Score sheet for up to 5 players
