This fun activity is like a color by numbers - but with Spanish verbs instead. Students look at over 80 Spanish verbs to determine what form they are in, then they use that to color the picture. There is a guide at the bottom of the sheet that tells them what colors to use and, when they finish, they have been engaged with the grammar and verb endings for 15-25 minutes and they have a lovely Halloween-themed picture.
This is a great way to take the fear out of the irregular preterite. It is also great for visual learners. It is a fun way to approach grammar!
This activity does not require teacher input, so it is perfect to leave with a substitute or to offer as an extra credit activity. Or you can use it on those awkward short classes when the regular schedule has been messed up for some reason. Another idea is giving it to early test finishers to work on while the rest of the class is still testing.
It is also a fun way to review the preterite if it has been awhile since students have seen it. (I used it with my Spanish III students for that purpose.)
An answer key is included and I've also added a bonus activity as thanks for your purchase.
