For this worksheet, students have to fill in the correct conjugation of common irregular preterite verbs in the context of sentences. They also have to create three original sentences using poder, hacer, and tener. Verbs used include: dar, traer, querer, ver, decir, hacer, estar, poder, tener, ir, ser, saber, venir, poner, haber.
The sentences also contain keywords that signal preterite, such as "ayer," "anoche," and "a las nueve."
In order to complete this worksheet, students need to have learned the conjugations. I used it to help the kids practice after we took notes, made conjugation charts, and learned a song to help us remember the "yo" forms. (Check out Sr. Jordan on YouTube to learn the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXsivRHsvas) I made it primarily for Spanish 2 students, but it would work well with Spanish 3 kids who need refreshers at the beginning of the year.
