IRREGULAR VERBS

This unit contains activities to reinforce the use of irregular verbs.

1. Is/Are Word Sort. Students read sentence cards and determine which verb goes in the blank space. Students sort the sentence cards by verb, and then write sentences using is and are.

2. Forms of the Verb be present tense. (am, is, are) Students determine which word goes in the blank on the sentence strips and record their answers on the record sheet. Then they write sentences using the present tense verbs.

3. Forms of the Verb be past tense. (was, were) Students determine which word goes in the blank on the sentence strips and record their answers on the record sheet. Then they write sentences using the present tense verbs.

4. The Special Verb Be. (have, has, had, do, does, did, is, are, am, was, were) This activity includes definition charts and worksheets for students to complete using these verbs.

5. Irregular Action Verbs. (run, ran, come, came, sit, sat, hide, hid, tell, told, see, saw, go, went) This activity includes definition charts and worksheets for students to complete using these verbs.

6. Irregular Action Verbs. (say, said, eat, ate, give, gave, take, took) This activity includes definition charts and worksheets for students to complete using these verbs.

7. Irregular Action Verb Choice. Which verb is it? Students determine which word goes in the blank on the sentence strips and record their answers on the record sheet. Then they write sentences using the present tense verbs.

8. Irregular Verbs (have, has, had, do, does, did) Students determine which word goes in the blank on the sentence strips and record their answers on the record sheet. Then they write sentences using the present tense verbs.

9. Irregular Verbs (run, ran, come, came, see, saw, go, went)
