My young primary age students have had a lot of difficulty identifying what is a letter, what is a word and what is a sentence. This product was made to explicitly teach these concepts in a fun, engaging hands-on way.
This product is great for small groups, RTI groups, literacy centers or even a pocket chart. The cards are bright and appeal to young learners.
There are two different types of title cards. The first type I use is with a happy, sad face. Students choose a card, decide if it is a word (or letter or sentence) If it is, it goes under the happy face, but if it isn't it goes under the sad face.
The second type of card just has one word: Letter, Word, Sentence. This is great for use in a pocket chart or on the floor. Students choose a card and decide which category it belongs. They place the card below that category. See my preview for examples of each.
Hands-on activities are very special as the kids learn with each other. They are engaged and talking with each other. That doesn't happen with worksheets! Look for my other hands-on activities.
