Noun & Verb Sort
This is a pack with 2 games and 2 sorting activities. There are 40 noun cards, 40 verb cards, special cards, 2 different game boards, and 2 sorting mats. There is also a game board included that you can use for both games by filling in verb or noun in the question.
Game: Is it a noun?
The children will each have a game board. There are 12 smiley faces and 12 frowning faces on the board. The noun cards and verb cards will be mixed together. The children will take turns drawing a card from the stack. They will name the picture and tell if it is a noun. I have them tell if it is a person, place, animal, or thing. If it is a noun, they will cover 1 of their smiley faces with a marker. I use either unifix cubes or stackers. If it is not a noun, they will cover 1 of their frowning faces. If they don’t identify the word correctly, I tell them and they cover the appropriate face. Or, you can have them cover a frowning face if they get it wrong. If they draw a smiley face, they get to draw 3 more times. An OK face means they get to draw 2 more times. A sad face means they miss 1 turn. If a child covers all of his/her frowning faces he/she is out of the game. The first child to cover all of their smiley faces wins.
Game: Is it a verb?
