Highly engaging lesson that has the students tying prior knowledge with the new information.
First the powerpoint starts off by the teacher giving the students the definitions of
Teacher leads a class discussion on examples for each (total time 15min)
Next the students get up and around the room I have printed out (from the powerpoint) clues as to what the organism is. I try to tie humor and other factual items into the clues.
Then students must try to figure out what the organism is.
Is it a consumer, producer, or decomposer?
If its a consumer they must decide if it is a Herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore.
I used this is a end of lesson activity for my classes (they love these) and it is interesting to listen in on how they will debate what the organism is and what it eats.
