This is a quick and easy interactive lesson we do at the beginning of the year in middle school. It is helpful, especially for 6th graders new to middle school policies, to starting discussions on academic integrity.
We have paddle boards in our room with a GREEN thumbs UP side and a red thumbs DOWN that I use during this lesson. However, you can simply have students give a thumbs up or down with their hand, use white boards for responding, or create your own front-back cheating/not cheating documents for holding up.
We spend a moment after each discussing why it is cheating or not. Some surprise students (such as "doing your homework at lunch" is not a good idea... but it is also NOT cheating).
